- I hear the heater. I've never really noticed it (or the air conditioning) before.
- I don't make the bed in the morning, but instead do it about 10 minutes before I get back into it at night. It's my way of tucking myself in. :)
- Jack is completely territorial. When Chris isn't here, he sleeps at the end of the bed...when he is here, Jack sleeps right next to my head in between Chris and I. Hilarious!
- I stink at cooking. I try and try to be creative and plan out my meals for the week but I often end up eating like a toddler...hotdogs, mac 'n cheese, and peanut butter and jelly. I really want a steak!
- Waking up is hard. I like my bed...no, I LOVE my bed!
- This is the first time in my life that I have ever lived by myself (kind of). I know, I know, Sofia is here and Chris comes home on the weekend, but when Sofia goes to bed during the week, it's just me.
- I like quiet. More often than not, the tv stays off at night after Bug goes to bed. With such busy days and non-stop toddler evenings, the lack of stimuli feels nice.
- I miss Chris. He is the love of my life and the one person who truly understands me. He makes me laugh, think and dream. He inspires me in more ways than are even measureable.
- My friends are invaluable and have been so supportive. All my neighbors offered to help when my rear window was smashed on Sunday night. Sofia and I have been to numerous homes for dinner and I have had several cups of coffee delievered to my office on many a tired morning. The way people have just dropped by or called to say hello has meant so much. I am truly blessed.
And I guess that is where I am being led in all of this...I am blessed. Blessed to have a wonderful home, job, husband, daughter and friends. Blessed to come from a strong family. Blessed to be able to take on each day as it comes. Below is a picture that I took on Saturday night at sunset standing in front of my house. THIS is being blessed!

Amen Momma! You two are missed also and I can't wait to give you a big hug and smootch at the end of each week. Last night I cooked hot italian sausages and pasta in my little kitchen in my motel. It was pretty good for not having the deluxe ammenities like home. Too bad there was no one to share it with! Love ya and see you soon.
I loved your post and the beautiful sunset! Love you and miss you! Sa
Awe Meg, you have so many talents to be proud of. I know we all want to be good at everything, but seriously, look at your golf game!
XXOX,
Momma Mia
I can identify from years past and you are right at the "things" you hear when that spouse is away. I know you are so grateful for all of the wonderful things and people you have in your life. The picture of the sunset is just incredible. Hang in there!
Aunt Connie
I was hurrying to post a reply and didn't get it right. Pls let me clarify - Meg just picked up golf clubs this summer for the first time in quite a few years and BAM! started smacking it right down the fairway. I meant to say we may not do as well as we want in some areas, but there are many more areas in the Plus Column, i.e. Meg's recently rediscovered golf talent, for starters.
Lucky you, getting to watch the sun set behind the Rocky Mountains!
Momma Mia
Ahhh, the memories of being alone with the children and living for the weekends! After 13 years it was so good to have our Daddy home every night. As Dick said at the Memorial Service for Grampa, "on Fridays we got him back". How sweet!
It will give you a new outlook on your life together...and will come to a close. Praise the Lord.
Happy Weekends........
Love. gkt
Meg and Chris, you're doing a great job of managing this new phase, and I know it does make your time together mean a lot when the weekend comes!
Meg, no worries on the food thing: I'm sure Sofia is not complaining, and as Aunt Miriam would say, "We don't do guilt!" :-)
Love you all,
Mom
Hi Meg,
As usual, you are doing great at looking at the blessings in everything... even time apart. Not that you would ever take each other for granted but you sure won't now! Your list of blessings shows your fantastic attitude. By the way, my kids were raised on mac and cheese and the rest. Add some tuna fish to the pan. Then you can call it a casserole. :)
happy weekend,
Aunt Karey and all
