Take me out to the ball game...

Today we went to the Colorado Rockies regular season finalie. At the start of the game, the Rockies were one game out of getting the final playoff spot in the National Leauge. They had won 12 out of 13 games (11 game winning streak - best streak in MLB this season). If our Rockies won today (against our division winner Arizona Diamondbacks) and if the San Diego Padres lost, the Rockies would go to a sudden death one-game playoff for the NL wildcard. There was one senario where if two other teams had won, there would have been a four team sudden death playoff for this one spot. The stadium was almost full and extremely electric. We went with Matt & Stacey and another couple they met at their "Expecting Twins" class. Turns out the other couple Blake and Nicole live three blocks from our home! The Rockies ended up winning 4-3 and the Padres lost too! Tomorrow night is the tie-breraker game. Lets Go Rocks!

Sofia was a little squirmy, but tons of fun!

Great view from the Rock Pile. Tickets for only $4! Just no shade...

Hey there Hot Mamma, love the new look!

I love my Daddio!

I love to show off my two lovely teeth...

I am big enough now to sit forward! I love the new view.

Has anyone seen my Cheerio?

A $14 Haircut is Just That:

A $14 haircut!

In an effort to save a few bucks and a bit of time, I decided to run over to a local discount hair salon on Saturday to get a haircut. I talked with the stylist and told her what I was looking for: a simple, slightly angled bob that began at my shoulders.

Sign #1 things were not going right: The woman doing my hair made a comment that she decided to "take it a lot shorter that I asked."

Sign #2: She was done cutting my hair in 19 minutes flat.

Sign #3: I got this really odd, hot pain on the back of my neck when she was using the electric razor.

Sign #4: She dried my hair and said, "okay, style it how you want to."

Needless to say, I was in tears by the time I made it home. Things were NOT looking good -- or even for that matter. And that weird pain?? She had cut the back of my neck! After several attempts to use my styling products and devices to make my new cut work for me, I gave up and made the shameful call to my regular salon to see if by chance, they had had any cancellations and could fit me in to fix me up.

Thankfully I was in luck. A super-talented stylist was available and was able to work her magic. She felt bad because my hair was seriously botched. After about an hour, she whipped me around to take a look in the mirror. MUCH better!

Never have I had two haircuts in a day and I have definitely learned my lesson when it comes to a discount haircut!

P.S. I have the best husband ever. He felt so bad that I was so upset that he drove me downtown to the salon and gave up an afternoon of college football to be my moral support. I love him :)

That's My Girl!

Anyone who truly knows me, KNOWS that I love a good bowl of mac 'n cheese. Tonight, I found out that my daughter does too! She ate almost an entire ladle-full of noodles! I couldn't believe it. Here she is in all her cheesy glory. :)

There is no place like home...

He's back. The well traveled Jack made his way back tonight. Almost exactly 24hrs after his departure, the doorbell rang. No it was not Jack, but our neighbor. (When he opened his garage door, a cat came dashing in looking for his mother.) I opened the door and Jack just stood there (with dirty paws) like the parable of the lost son. He is back home safe from the ever prevalent foxes and mean neighborhood dogs. Welcome back Jack, welcome back...

Jack :(

My kitty is missing. Please keep your fingers crossed that he returns home safely.

Political Moment of the Week

This week in my student government class, a group of students gave speeches to run for officer positions. As one of my 6th grade students stood up to give her speech for secretary, her friend loudly asked, "Are you a republican or a democracy?" She cooley responded, "I won't be discussing my political position today."

I should seriously get paid to write down all the funny comments my students make...

"It's the oldest I have ever been"

Meg and I hosted a little birthday party for her last night. Good old Matt and Stacey came over and so did a handful of Meg's co-teachers. We had a burgers on the grill and enjoyed some college football. All of us but one really enjoyed the Oregon vs. Michigan game where again the rodents choked at home. Life is a beautiful thing. Meg's friend Dawn even made her a birthday poster which was signed by teachers and students. Thank you everyone for the cards and also for the contributions to Meg's Jamaica trip. We love and miss you all so much.

My Hubby, My Hero

Last night, Chris, Sofia and I headed over to our friend's house for an awesome Italian-style potluck. There were about 10 of us in all with 3 babies on top of that! It was a blast and a fantastic way to celebrate the long weekend. After lots of laughing, playing and catching up, we called it a night and headed back to our place. Enter my hero.

While we were driving on the highway, Chris and I heard a funny pop sound and my car began to pull to the right. I had blown a tire! We pulled over to the side of the highway and Chris immediately got to work. In just a matter of minutes, we were back in the car with a spare tire on the axle and we were on our way. Thanks to my husband, we were able to avoid be stranded on the side of a highway in the middle of the night.

Ahh, I love him. :)
