Last Monday, we went to the doctor for my end of trimester check-up. What I thought was going to be an ultrasound to check for the baby's heartbeat actually turned out to be just this tiny little monitor that the doc stuck on my stomach so we could hear the little tiny heartbeat within. It was sooooooo cool! We couldn't believe how fast the baby's heartbeat was compared to my giant base-drum of a heartbeat in the background. Anyway, there are no new pics of the baby as of now. In fact, I won't have another ultrasound until the end of June...BUT it is the super-teched up version that will show a 3-D image!! So, I will take the old ones to school this week and scan them in to post. The baby obviously looks much different at this stage, but hey, it's better than nothing. So, keep your clickers ready!

A turn for the better
My amazing sweet wife has finally taken a turn for the better this week. Her nausea has left and has now been replaced with a hunger like no other. I remember taking Meg to Charlie's Crab on a high school dance dinner and thought she was going to eat my arm because she was soooooooo hungry. She ordered a $50 dinner, ate like 1/4 of the dish, and then almost fell asleep from being so full. Oh how things are different now. Now we have breakfast, brunch, lunch, lun-inner, dinner, and snacks between. It is so cute. Meg is really good at eating all the healthy things and getting all of the specified nutrients and vitamins. I can no longer pick off of her plate, which for me is a good thing. As I am trying to shrink my appetite (so there is only one belly in the family) I almost asked Meg if she wanted to split dinners when we go out to eat. What a crazy thought that has become now that she eats more than me.

Magic Trick!
Pregnancy is so bizzare. Just to give you an example, there are funny feelings, wild emotions and the obvious body-shape change, of course. But what really gets me is this: From the front/back I don't look pregnant!

But from the side...

Hey baby!

There's A Hole In My Wallet
Well, I have offically outgrown all of my "regular" clothes. As a result, a serious shopping trip was in order. The weekend started with a glorious surprise from Chris: A prenatal massage!! It was fabulous! It was his treat to me while he left early for his trip to Breckenridge. An hour of pure delight and relaxation! I am completely ready to handle being pregnant now. :) After, I met up with my friend Stacey and we headed to the mall where she helped me to dive into wild world of maternity clothes. We spent hours in Old Navy Maternity and GAP Maternity spending way too much money, having way too much fun and creating an entire wardrobe that I could finally be comfortable and expand in. It was GREAT!! The thing I was most proud of was that I only bought 2 things that WEREN'T on sale! I got a TON of stuff for a great deal.
When Stacey and I had sufficiently done enough damage in the stores, we hit the highway and headed west to Breckenridge to meet our hubbies and friend. It ended up being a great weekend. We went to an outdoor concert and heard two great, unique bands and then spent the evening enjoying food, laughter and Breckenridge's original brews (not me, of course). Sunday brought one final day of skiing for the boys and a day of putzing around the house for me. It really was a great weekend.
Our new camera from Dad and Rose arrived today! Woo hoo! It is charging in the docking station as we speak, so pictures of our place will be up soon!!!
In other news, my end-of-first-trimester-checkup was cancelled on Tuesday because my OB unexpectedly took a leave of absence and did not indicate when he will be returning! Yikes! As a result, I had to switch doctors and have my appointment moved to next Monday. Oh well, it just means we'll get an even better picture of the baby! :)

Not Quite Fallen Off The Face of the Earth
Whoa! April 3rd? What have we been thinking?!?!? It has been far too long since our last update!
Life in the mile high D-town has been quite crazy since our last post. We were so lucky to have visitors for two weekends in a row (Mom and then my best friend, Kate) and then it was Easter! It is hard to believe that three weeks can fly by so quickly! We have slowly been making the transition into our new place. Since we had an entire month to move out of the apartment, we have taken our sweet time with getting all the "unneccesaries" over to our house. Now that we have just about a week left, we seem to be scrambling. So what are we doing about it?? Going to Breckenridge for the weekend! It is the last weekend that all the major resorts are open, so Chris and Matt are going to get two final days of the slopes in while Stacy and I relax in the coffee shops and go to a concert. After the move, being on the interview committee at school, driving back and forth to the new job site in Loveland (Chris) and learning how to deal with all the crazy pregnancy hormones (BOTH of us), we are in DEFINITE need of a mini-vacation. :)
Chris's job has been going really well. He is just now getting started at a new job site about an hour north of Denver. It is a pretty large project and he seems excited to be a part of it. He was just reminded this week that he will have his annual review in a few weeks. Annual review! It is so hard to believe that we have lived her for nearly a year already! Time has flown!
On the school front, my job has been keeping me incredibly busy. Besides the fact that my students have discovered their hormones with the arrival of spring, my principal also asked me to be part of the interview committee for next year's hires. It has been quite the experience! It has definitely taught me a lot about what it takes to be a good teacher. We only have 6 weeks left of the school year... or 30 days if you are a teacher and have the counting down to a science. ;)
On pregnancy: The pregnancy is continuing to go well. Chris and I will go for my 12-week check up/ultrasound on Tuesday. We will get to hear the heartbeat for the first time, which we are both really excited about! Physically, I have been challenged a bit with morning sickness and fatigue, but it is definitely waning as I am nearing the second trimester. Bring on that "babymoon"!
Pictures: Our camera is still not up to par, but we got a lovely surprise from my dad and step-mom...they are sending us a new one! We are so excited and will take TONS of picture of the new place and my not-so-flat-tummy as soon as it arrives.
More soon.
Lots of Love.

Alive and Well
Just a quick note to let you all know that we are both alive and well. We were finally able to close and begin moving into our new place on Wednesday. We are slowly getting settled in thanks to a visit from Mom and some of our friends. We had to put lifting heavy items on hold for a few days because Chris cut his thumb and had to get stiches! Thank heavens that we have a few weeks left to still move! Anyway, we will post pictures of the new place as soon as we get settled and have the internet. It might be a few days...our address didn't even exist in the Comcast database! Have a great week and we will be in touch soon!

The kids...

This weekend we had the pleasure of dog-sitting our friend's LARGE chocolates lab Jake. He and Layla are buddies and love to chase each other around furniture and lick each other's face until their tongues go numb. We had him Thursday night to Sunday afternoon. We went on a long walk around our new home in Stapleton late Friday afternoon and the next day we rompted around in the dog park. Jake stayed the night on Saturday night and I even caught them sharing Layla's bone. Poor Jack-the-Cat was exiled to the loft were he reigned as King all weekend. Its not too bad as he stays up there most of the time we are gone at work. Jake's brute strength was something Jack didn't want to take a chance on. Its a good bet too because he is a strong dog. Hope everyone is doing well, and remember, we are still taking applications to help us move...

This Is The One....Hopefully....
Yesterday, after a long day of searching, we found what will hopefully be OUR FIRST HOME! WOO HOO! It is in a really cool area called Stapleton. Stapleton used to be home to the Denver Airport. After a ton of revitalization work to the land, a community has been developed fully equipped with shops, restaurants and a "downtown" feeling without being right downtown. It's great!
The house that we put an offer on is called a Carriage Home and is designed after what many European homes look like: two floors, one family on top floor, one family on bottom floor, each with their own entrance and garage. Think duplex but vertical. :) Anyway, it is really cute AND is BRAND NEW! We are pumped! The house has 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom and a huge living space that flows between the living room, dining area and kitchen.
We went back today to take some pictures. The house has been decorated because it was the model and unfortunately, the only thing we will get to keep is the Picasso print that the sales agent tossed into the deal (thanks to Chris!). If all goes well and our offer is accepted on Monday, we will be closing by the end of the month!
Enjoy the pictures....and hopefully they will be filled with visitors soon! :)
